WINEMAKER

Marinda Kruger-Claassen, Elgin Vintners’ Business Manager and Winemaker, is no stranger to the wine industry and with extensive winemaking experience locally and abroad Marinda surely is a force to be reckoned with on the South African wine scene. Her formal qualifications include a MSc Viticulture and Oenology degree and she is currently working on her PhD in AgriSciences. Her post-graduate studies include wine marketing and wine evaluation courses, and she acts as wine judge at several local wine competitions.

RIDGELANDS MANOR GUESTHOUSE

The Ridgelands Manor House, built in 1927 and based on a Sir Herbert Baker design, has been converted into a 4-star Boutique Guest House and is the perfect hiding place for a tranquil weekend away from city life. This wonderful historic homestead has been renovated into a Victorian-style home and still boasts its original oak and hickory floorboards. Garden enthusiasts can enjoy meandering through the English-style garden and faithful hounds are welcome to join too. The swimming pool is open to all visitors to the farm and if you are planning on spending the day with a picnic on the lawn be sure to bring along tennis rackets or mountain bikes to experience the whole farm.

With the natural surrounding beauty of this Elgin jewel your wedding day will surely showcase romance in every sense of the word. The Ridgelands Manor House offers luscious English-style gardens to set the scene. The large lawns, which provides ample space for a dance floor, can be transformed into a magical fairy-tale setting with festive lighting draped amongst the ancient oak trees.
